National Telecom backbone Bharat Sanchar Nigham Limited (BSNL) has announced a new scheme for providing Free SIM cards (32K/64K) to the “Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna” scheme – bank account holders. Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna is an ambitious scheme for comprehensive financial inclusion launched by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on 28 August 2014.
Free SIM cards will be available at the nearest BSNL Customer Care Centre or any of the BSNL retailers. Customers may produce the copy of the Bank passbook along with his/her passport size photo and ID proof to claim his/her Free SIM.
Shri Anupam Shrivastava, Director (CM), BSNL Board stated that “The Scheme has been launched as part of the BSNLs social commitment for providing communication facility to each and every citizen of the country. The customers may register mobile numbers with their bank to receive alerts and updates concerning to their bank account.”
This scheme will be available for 90 Days with effect from 08 September 2014. Customers may activate any of the available BSNL Prepaid Mobile Plans and STVs (VOICE , SMS, DATA & ISD) of their choice in the given Free SIM card.
