India’s Largest Broadband Service Provider and National Telecom backbone Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) revised the monthly rental charges of ADSL & VDSL modems for broadband services. The revised charges are applicable to those customers who opts the modem rental option for Broadband services.
BSNL revised the monthly rental charges its four kinds of customer premises equipments (CPEs) i.e. ADSL Basic Modem, ADSL Wi-Fi Modem, ADSL Wi-Fi – TA Modem, VDSL Wi-Fi – Modem.
The revised Modem Rental details are given below:

These new revised charges for ADSL / VDSL modems shall be
applicable for all the new / existing customers of all the BSNL circles.

BSNL also clarified that, if any rental modem becomes faulty, then it should be replaced with old recovered modem only. If customer wants new modem then he has to purchase with outright purchase option.
Around 99% of the broadband customers are opting outright purchase option for Modem, hence this revision of rental charges for modem is no going to make an impact on broadband customers.
