WhatsApp has started to roll out its much awaited Free Voice Calling Feature to users in India. But there is no official word on the availability of the voice calling feature on WhatsApp. As per latest reports, its new free voice calling feature appears to be available on invite only basis to a few users India.
A Reddit user pradnesh07, who received the feature on his Android smartphone, has mentioned that the feature got activated when his friend (who already has the feature enabled) called him through WhatsApp. The post on Reddit, however, appears to have been removed – but not before screenshots hit the Web.
The Reddit user went on to say that he tried to call as many friends as
possible to help his friends in activating the calling feature on
WhatsApp, but it was more of a hit-and-miss situation.
It seems like WhatsApp is testing this new feature before it’s official launch. WhatsApp users will have to wait more for the new voice calling feature to be officially available.
Earlier this month, WhatsApp launched WhatsApp Web, which you can use from your web browser, bringing WhatsApp to desktop’s reach. Its competitor Hike has also launched voice calling feature earlier this week.
