(CM) General Manager, K Venkataraman has said that the
telecom operator started replacing batteries in 1432 towers to improve the Quality of Service. BSNL is the only operator in Kerala Circle who gained maximum number of subscribers through Mobile Number Portability (MNP).
1432 towers were either dead or close to running out. About 952
batteries were to be changed immediately and out of these, batteries in
649 towers have been changed already. The remaining 303 towers would get
their batteries changed by the end of this month, Venkataraman said.
Maintenance is required in another 480 towers and the 783 towers would
work as expected once all works are completed, he added.
Venkataraman also said that the department was monitoring all
operational activities of towers. He also said that transmission power
of some towers are being regulated in order to ensure smooth voice and
data communications.
He also said that the company was operating as per
regulations of the TRAI and added that land phone and broadband installation charges have been cut by 50 per cent.
