Indian telecom giant and state run PSU, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) extended its contract by three years with telecom infrastructure
provider UTStarcom for broadband and fixed line network transformation. This will allow UTStarcom to supply and

three years till 2018.

In March 2014, UTStarcom won multi-service access network (MSAN) equipment and support design, engineering and installation for BSNL, helping the service provider to upgrade its network to offer Next Generation multi-media services to BSNL landline customers.
UTStarcom holds nearly 35% share in the broadband Internet network equipment in India.
UTStarcom responded to this news in an official statement – “This is an extension order for maintenance of BSNL broadband services with UTStarcom supplied products and it reinforces the strength of UTStarcom’s advanced efficient and reliable broadband infrastructure solutions.”
Shri. NK Gupta, Director (Consumer Fixed and Mobility) of BSNL said – “We are dedicated to serve our customers by providing affordable and innovative telecom services.”
“This will further deepen our relationship with our decade old partner UTStarcom that enable us to continue the transformation of our broadband and fixed line network for next few years,” Gupta added.
William Wong, Chief Executive Officer of UTStarcom said –“We are excited to play a key role in an effort to support the rollout of its multiplay broadband Internet service, by offering our robust portfolio of advanced yet affordable telecom infrastructure solutions,”
The company also plans to extend efforts in the year 2015 and said that it will work with the Indian telecom operators, system integrators and the government to address the needs of initiatives such as Digital India.
