Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the latest telecom subscription data as on 30th September 2015. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) added more than 10.48 lakh new mobile customers in the month of September 2015.
The monthly growth rate of BSNL has increased from 1.04 percent to 1.33 percent during the month of September 2015. With this amazing performance BSNL placed among the top three operators in monthly growth rate and in the top five position in net addition of wireless subscribers.
As we reported earlier, BSNL added around 4.8 lakhs of subscribers in July 2015, 8.1 lakhs new wireless subscribers in August 2015. These figures clearly shows a positive sign of revival and more and more new customers are being added into BSNL Family through MNP as a result of customer friendly initiatives like FREE All India Roaming and Lowest 3G Data Offers.
Among BSNL units, all telecom circles achieved positive growth in wireless subscriber addition except Jammu & Kashmir and North East during the month of September 2015. The Top performers are UP East (+1,53,563), West Bengal (+1,53,315), Orissa (+87,153), Kerala (+87,972), UP West (+85,786).
As per this report, the total number of broadband subscribers increased from 117.34 million at the end of August 2015 to 120.88 million at the end of September 2015 with monthly growth rate of 3.02%.
BSNL holds the No.1 position in Landline segment with 60.28% market share. Airtel holds the No.1 position in Broadband segment (Wired + Wireless) position with 23.32% market share and Vodafone at second position with 19.67% market share as on 30th September 2015.
Top Five service providers constituted 84.01% market share of total broadband subscribers at the end of September 2015. These service providers were Bharti Airtel (28.19 million), Vodafone (23.78 million), Idea Cellular Ltd (19.60 million), BSNL (18.94 million) and Reliance Communications Group (11.04 million).
The total number of telephone subscribers in India increased from 1014.18 million at the end of August 2015 to 1022.61 million at the end of September 2015, thereby showing a monthly growth rate of 0.83%.
Total wireless subscriber base increased from 988.17 million at the end of August 2015 to 996.66 million at the end of September 2015, thereby registering a monthly growth rate of 0.86%.
As on 30th September, 2015, the private access service providers held 91.64% market share of the wireless subscribers whereas BSNL and MTNL, the two PSUs access service providers, held only 8.36% market share.
In Wired Broadband segment, BSNL holds the No.1 position with 9.93 million customers, followed by Bharati Airtel with 1.58 million customers.

Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
In the month of September 2015, a total of 4.17 million subscribers submitted their requests for MNP. With this, the cumulative MNP requests increased from 172.22 million at the end of August 2015 to 176.39 million at the end of September 2015.
