As we all know, our national telecom backbone Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is playing a very important and crucial role in shaping Digital India. To further boost the Digital India initiatives, Global Leading Social Networking Firm ‘Facebook’ joins hand together with BSNL to set up 100 Free Wi-Fi Zones in rural India.
This ambitious Free Public Wi-Fi project is branded as ‘Facebook for Villages’. The pilot project is being rolled out in southern and western states of India. Now BSNL has decided to upgrade the FUP limit of Wi-Fi Hotspot plan exclusive for ‘Facebook for Villages’ project on PAN India basis.
As per the latest information, BSNL upgraded the maximum bandwidth with fair usage policy (FUP) as ‘2Mbps till 10GB, 512Kbps beyond’ from the existing ‘2Mbps till 3GB, 512Kbps beyond’, only for the individual users of Bulk user WiFi Hot Spot for Global Leading Social Networking Firm ‘Facebook’ for villages.
The upgraded FUP limit shall be effective with immediate effect in all the circles only for the Global Leading Social Networking Firm ‘Facebook’ for Villages project.

BSNL already commissioned more than 500 Wi-Fi Hotspots in major tourist locations and historic places. BSNL plans to install a total of 2500 Wi-Fi hotspots during the current financial year itself. To take on the 4G challenge of private operators, the PSU will be installing more than 40,000 Wi-Fi Hotspots in the next three years.

Provide BSNL Broadband with good speed and uninterpreted service. Use optical fibre for good speed.
