    TRAI Report Card November 2015: BSNL market share increased, added 9.3 lakhs of new customers with monthly growth of 1.16%

    Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the latest telecom subscription data as on 30th November 2015. As we reported earlier, the market share of state run PSU, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is continuously increasing in the month of November 2015 also.

    As per the latest TRAI report, BSNL added more than 9.3 lakhs of new mobile customers in the month of November 2015 with monthly growth of 1.16%. The performance of BSNL in wireless subscriber addition and monthly growth rate is really encouraging and the PSU managed to maintain its position in the Top Five during November 2015.

    Among BSNL units, all telecom circles achieved positive growth in wireless subscriber addition except Jammu & Kashmir (-2623) during the month of November 2015. The best performers are Maharashtra (+1,66,817),  UP  East (+1,27,269), Karnataka (+83,467), UP West (+75,213) and Orissa (+69,285).

    BSNL holds the No.1 position in Landline segment with 59.72% market share. Airtel holds the No.1 position in Broadband segment (Wired + Wireless) position with 30.68% market share and Vodafone at second position with 25.53% market share as on 30th November 2015.

    The total number of telephone subscribers in India increased from 1029.34 million at the end of October 2015 to 1035.18 million at the end of November 2015, thereby showing a monthly growth rate of 0.57%.

    Total wireless subscriber base increased from 1003.49 million at the end of October 2015 to 1009.46 million at the end of November 2015, thereby registering a monthly growth rate of 0.59%.

    As on 30th November 2015, the private access service providers held 91.58% market share of the wireless subscribers whereas BSNL and MTNL, the two PSUs access service providers, held only 8.42% market share.

    The total number of broadband subscribers in India, increased from 125.22 million at the end of October 2015 to 131.49 million at the end of November 2015 with monthly growth rate of 5.01%.

    Five service providers constituted 83.59% market share of total
    broadband subscribers     at the end of November 2015. These service
    providers were Bharti Airtel (30.68 million), Vodafone (25.53 million),
    Idea Cellular Ltd (21.25 million), BSNL (19.87 million) and Reliance
    Communications Group (12.59 million).

    In Wired Broadband segment, BSNL holds the No.1 position with 9.93 million customers, followed by Bharati Airtel with 1.64 million customers.

    2.   Vodafone (25.52 million)
    3.   Idea Cellular (21.23 million)
    4.   Reliance Communications (12.47 million)
    5.   BSNL (9.94 million)


    Mobile Number Portability (MNP)

    In the month of November 2015, a total of 5.19 million subscribers submitted their requests for MNP. With this, the cumulative MNP requests increased from 181.50 million at the end of October 2015 to 186.69 million at the end of November 2015.

      BSNL is still leading due to its availability in many area. If only other service provider expands they will surely fall.
