Mobile number portability (MNP) enables mobile telephone users to retain their mobile numbers when changing from one mobile network operator to another. MNP launched in India on 20th January 2011 and at that time customers were only allowed to change their network within a circle.
From 3rd July 2015 on wards Full Mobile Number Portability had been implemented in India which allows mobile users to change their service provider in any part of the country while retaining the existing number. As per the latest information, BSNL Kerala Circle got more than 12 lakhs of new mobile customers through MNP since its inception.
Around 4.73 lakhs of existing customers left BSNL Mobile Service and joined other operators during the same period (from 20-01-2011 to 13-02-2016). Thus, BSNL Kerala Circle achieved a net gain of 7.37 lakhs of mobile customers with net PORT IN / PORT OUT ratio of 2.56. It means, three new customers are being added to BSNL family while one customer is going out.

MNP performance of each SSAs of BSNL Kerala Telecom circle is given in the above table. Out of the 11 SSAs, BSNL Kannur SSA achieved the maximum number of PORT IN customers of 2.36 lakhs with highest PORT IN / PORT OUT ratio of 3.61. BSNL Ernakulam SSA is just behind Kannur SSA with 2.22 lakhs of PORT IN customers with PORT IN / PORT OUT ratio of 2.72.
