Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today announced the rationalization of one of it’s most popular prepaid mobile plan – BSNL FRC ₹249 Plan with effect from 12th April 2021 on PAN India basis. BSNL launched this new prepaid mobile plan in March 2021 as a promotional offer with lucrative incentive scheme in an attempt to increase new mobile connections.
The plan became popular among BSNL customers as well as BSNL retailers within no time. Initially, the plan was bundled with true unlimited voice calls to any network, unlimited data 2GB/Day and 100 free SMS per day with validity period of 60 days. After the promotional period, BSNL regularized this FRC 249 plan with reduced data freebies of 1GB/Day while all other freebies and validity period remain unchanged. Now, based on the feedback from customers, BSNL authorities has decided to double the free data usage in FRC Plan 249 to 2GB/Day from 12th April 2021 on PAN India basis.

An official statement regarding rationalization of FRC 249 plan is read as:-
Now, the competent authority has decided to rationalize FRC-249 plan with effect from 12-04-2021 as under:- FRC 249 Freebies : Truly unlimited voice in Home LSA and National roaming including MTNL roaming area of Delhi and Mumbai, Unlimited data with speed reduced to 40 kbps after 2GB/day, 100 SMS/day with plan/freebies validity of 60 days.
Note:
However, all other terms and conditions & OTF (On The Fly Commission) for FRC-249 will remain same as per the earlier tariff revision. It means, all other terms and conditions of FRC 249 plan will be as per Prepaid Mobile Plan 107. The revised OTF (On The Fly) commission to retailers / DSAs / OCSCs /REDs will be Rs 180/- per activation.
The above tariff will be implemented with effect from 12-04-2021 across all the telecom circles. The implementation of the tariff will be made in accordance with 43rd Amendment of Telecom Tariff Order and orders / guidelines / clarifications issued by TRAI from time to time.
How to Activate BSNL FRC Plan 249?
BSNL FRC 249 plan is an exclusive offer available to both new and MNP Port-In customers. This plan is termed as First Recharge Coupon (FRC) since the same voucher cannot be used for validity extension or plan migration. It means, existing BSNL prepaid mobile customers are not allowed to use BSNL FRC Plan 249. For new/MNP port-in customers, this plan can be activated through BSNL Retailers or from BSNL CSCs.
