“Your SlM Document Verification is Pending Please Contact quickly ! Your service will be blocked within 24hrs.” Messages in the given format is now being received by most of the mobile phone users. Such messages will also contain a mobile number for qick contact for KYC verification to avoid SIM blocking. On receiving such an SMS, many of us will get panic easily as our mobile number is already linked with so many essential utlitiy services like – Bank Accounts, Electricity Charges, Broadband Bills, Water Bills, Office works, Business requirements and all. Mobile customers of all telecom oerators viz – BSNL, Airtel, Vi and Jio – are facing the issue of such pesky SMS / Calls from Registered Tele Marketers as well as Unregistered Tele Marketers.
If you have already received such as SMS or Call from any number, you need not worry – telecom operators already started SMS and OBD (Out Bound Dialing) Campaign to educate their customers regarding such fake KYV verification / SIM blocking messages. Telecom Operators will not send such messages for KYC verification / updation. All such fake messages are sent by fraudsters. BSNL authorities has also decided to start such a campaign to all BSNL customers on every month via Calls and SMS. Many customers already lost their money from their bank accounts by stealing their internet banking details. In all such cases, these fraudsters will ask mobile phone users to install an application on their smartphone to complete KYC verification of SIM card. After installing the app, they will ask customers to do an online transaction / online recharge using internet banking.
The app already installed in your mobile handset is simply a screen mirroring app which will transfer all the details which you are entering in your mobile phone to the fraudster. After getting your internet banking credentials, they can initiate fund transfer from your bank account. This is the common modus of operandi of KYC fraudsters. BSNL Kerala Telecom Circle already issued a Press Release regarding such fake SMS / Voice calls asking for OTP or KYC verification.
BSNL authorities are reciving several complaints regarding fraudulent SMS / Call from the RTMs (Registered Tele Marketers) / UTMs (Unregistered Tele Marketers) for KYC / documents verification / SIM Blocking and asking customers to call a particular number for the same. Beside this, the complaints regarding seemingly fraudulent SMS are also being observed. In view of the above and to create awareness among BSNL subscribers it has been decided to start OBD campaign in Kerala Circle and SMS campaign all over India to BSNL Mobile customers on every month.

In coming days, you will get Voice Calls as well as SMS alerts from BSNL regarding these KYC verification fraud. It is always adviced not to respond to such calls.
