India’s largest landline service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to withdraw one of its existing landline plan – Economy (old) – with FMC of Rs 150 with effect from 1st December 2016 on wards in all telecom circles.
Economy (old) plan is an alternative landline package for customers in Rural area which is currently available in all telecom circles irrespective of the system capacity. As we reported earlier, BSNL revised Economy (old) plan with effect from 1st May 2015 with the introduction of Unlimited Free Night Calling facility.
Withdrawal of Economy (old) landline plan with effect from 1st December 2016
- Fixed Monthly Charges (in Rs) : 150
- Free MCUs (Metered Call Units) : 150
- Applicability : Special Landline package for customers in Rural Areas
Existing customers in this plan may choose any other plan of their choice. If customers does not opt any other plan, his number may be converted into General Plan of the respective area after observing TRAI guidelines.

the above mentioned plan is only for rural area??
