In view of TRAI’s regulation vide ‘Prohibition of discriminatory tariffs for data services regulations, 2016’, state run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to withdraw URL based data Add-on packs (Facebook, Twitter & Whatsapp packs) with immediate effect in all circles.
As we reported earlier, BSNL launched URL based add-on packs of Rs 30 and Rs 40 for its postpaid mobile customers in Northern & Southern telecom circles in 2014. As per the latest information, no new activation to be allowed under these Add-on plans henceforth.
For Subscribers already subscribed under these Add-on packs should be allowed to continue till current billing period. These Add-on packs shall not be available to the subscribers already subscribed under the packs after the current billing period.

The above tariff will be implemented with immediate effect. The implementation of the tariff is to be made in accordance with 43rd Amendment of Telecom Tariff Order, Prohibition of discriminatory tariffs for data services regulations, 2016 and orders/guidelines/clarifications issued by TRAI from time to time.
BSNL will inform the subscribers who have subscribed under these Add-on packs, regarding withdrawal of Facebook, Twitter & Whatsapp packs due to TRAI’s Regulation via Press note / proper advertisement / SMS / IVRS.
