State run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to launch QR (Quick Response) code based offers for its Prepaid Mobile Customers across India.
Recently, BSNL Karnataka circle started embedding QR codes on monthly bills of landline / broadband / FTTH (Fiber Broadband) services which will enable customers to pay their bills online. QR code based bill payment would help thousands of BSNL customers to pay their bills through a QR code reader app on their smartphones.
BSNL has already developed a new software module to enable the launch of QR code based offers for its customers. The codes are being generated for each telecom circle and the launch is expected by the end of January 2016.

BSNL is also developing a ‘Retailer App’ for its channel partners like – Retailers / DSAs / RDs, which will provide latest offers, tariff plans, commission structure, last five transactions etc. To speed up the activation process of new prepaid mobile connections through BSNL retailers, another Mobile Application ‘e-CAF’ is also under development.
However, more details regarding the implementation of QR code based offers are not revealed by BSNL so far. Now a days, BSNL is taking some serious and innovative initiatives to attract new customers and to improve customer satisfaction.
How the QR code based Bill Payment work?
QR code will be embedded on the monthly bill and BSNL customers would just have to scan the code through a QR code reader app on their smartphones, which will then redirect them to a link of their individual payment gateway page. On the payment page, users will get to choose a payment option, such as net banking or credit/debit cards options. The new QR payment method is completely safe and customers would not have to worry for entering other details regarding their connection number or bill amount.

Currently, BSNL has rolled out the QR code based bill payment in Karnataka Circle only, but there are fair chances that it will make it available in more circles soon.
