Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had carried out Drive Test for few cities during the period of July to September 2015. Drive test was carried out by an independent agency M/s TUV SUD South Asia Pvt. Ltd. to assess the Quality of Service provided by Telecom Service Providers (TSPs).
From the drive test results it is observed that the overall performance of BSNL Mobile Network in-terms of Coverage Rate, Call Completion Success Rate, Call Setup Success Rate, Speech Quality etc is comparable or even better than other private service providers / mobile operators.

Voice Quality:
Operators who have not met the benchmark for Voice Quality in Indoor are Airtel, Idea, Reliance GSM and Vodafone and for Outdoor are Aircel, Airtel, BSNL, Idea, Reliance CDMA, Tata CDMA, Tata GSM and Vodafone.
CSSR (Call Setup Success Rate):
Operators who have not met the benchmark for CSSR are Aircel, Airtel and Reliance CDMA and for Outdoor are Aircel, Relaince GSM, Tata CDMA, Tata GSM and Vodafone.
Call Drop Rate:
Operators who have not met the benchmark for Call Drop Rate in Indoor are Airtel and for Outdoor are Aircel, Airtel, BSNL, Reliance CDMA, Tata CDMA and Vodafone.

Voice Quality:
Operators who have not met the benchmark for Voice Quality in Outdoor are Aircel, Airtel, BSNL Idea, Reliance GSM Tata GSM and Vodafone.

Operators who have not met the benchmark for CSSR in Outdoor are Aircel, Airtel, BSNL, Idea, Reliance CDMA and Reliance GSM.
Call Drop Rate:
Operators who have not met the benchmark for Call Drop Rate in Outdoor are Aircel, Airtel, BSNL, Reliance CDMA, Tata CDMA , Tata GSM and Vodafone.

RF Coverage Rate:
RF Coverage relates to the geographical footprint within the system that has sufficient RF signal strength to provide for a call / data session. The coverage rate of an operator is calculated basis of % of samples in which the Rx level is better than -85dbm. The coverage rate varies from 97.74% for Vodafone to 69.21% for Reliance GSM. The findings of the drive test conducted during July to September 2015, reveals the truth behind the misleading campaign against BSNL Mobile Services.
Later in October 2015, the regulator appointed M/s IMRB International, M/s C S Datamation Research Services Pvt. Ltd. and M/s Phi Stream Consulting Pvt. Ltd. for undertaking the work of Audit and Assessment of Quality of Service being provided by various service providers in all the Four Telecom Zones. Now, let us wait for the results of TRAI Drive Tests of all those Four Telecom Zones.
