Happy News to all Prepaid Broadband Customers of BSNL. The state run PSU, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to absorb the enhancement of service tax rate in respect of Volume based prepaid recharge vouchers / Top Up vouchers / Validity vouchers of Prepaid Broadband Service.
However, for New Customers, the Activation charges of Rs 100 (exclusive of service tax) may be collected at the revised service tax rate i.e., Rs 100 plus 14 percent service tax. Central government has increased the service tax rate from 12.36 percent to 14 percent with effect from 1st June 2015 onwards.
As per this latest information, BSNL Prepaid Broadband customers need not pay any thing extra or they may enjoy the same freebies as before.
BSNL offers Prepaid Broadband Plans having download speed varies from 256 Kbps to 8 Mbps for Home & Business customers. Prepaid Broadband Plans starts with a minimum recharge amount of Rs 200 (BBV RL 200) and maximum of Rs. 3000 (BBV RL 3000).
The main attractions of Prepaid Broadband Service are – Mobility, No Fixed Monthly Charges, Control on Internet Charges and Sharing of DSL connections etc.

Initial Charges at the time of application
- Installation charge Rs. 250/- (Service Tax extra)
- Modem charges: For outright purchase, ADSL Basic Modem costs Rs. 1400/- and ADSL WiFi Modem costs Rs. 1800/- with Inclusive of Taxes.
- Activation Charges of Rs 100/- (Service Tax extra)
- Activation Initial benefit Free Usage 400 MB which valid for 30 days
Installation charges and Modem charges shall be collected in advance through the local commercial system at the time of application for Prepaid Broadband connection.
In case of customer having his/her own modem, only Installation charges shall be collected in advance through Demand Note through the local commercial system at the time of application for Prepaid Broadband connection.
