Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has reported EBITDA positive after a gap of more than 3 years. As per the latest information, the PSU has reported positive earnings before Interest Taxes and Depreciation (EBITDA) for the half year ended 30th September 2020.
After the successful VRS implementation for more than 80,000 employees last year the PSU is now focused in reducing expenditure and increasing operational profits by providing quality services to its esteemed customers all over the country. BSNL was able to raise more than ₹8,500 crore through sovereign guarantee bonds on 21st September 2020. The bond was subscribed over two times and a total 229 bids valued at ₹17,183 crore were received.
BSNL & MTNL – Strategic Assets of India
Government has already stated that, both BSNL & MTNL are strategic assets of India and hence these PSUs could not be privatized. BSNL and MTNL fulfill the communication needs of most of the Government Departments including the Armed Forces. For the majority of the Banks and Financial Institutions, core banking network requirement is also met by these PSUs. Both BSNL and MTNL are reliable service providers under control of Government of India and BSNL also has a vast rural network. Government has introduced four-way revival plan for BSNL & MTNL which was started with VRS scheme last year where almost 80,000 BSNL employees and 14,000 MTNL employees have opted for voluntary retirement scheme. The revival package includes monetization of assets worth Rs 38,000 crores for a period of four years.
Mandatory use of BSNL & MTNL Services in Government Institutions
BSNL is executing prestigious projects of Government of India which include – Bharat Net, NFS project for defense forces, submarine cable project and several other projects of significance. The trust of the government in BSNL stands reinforced by the recent decision to mandatorily use BSNL services for central and state government establishments all over India. DoT in its letter dated 12th October 2020, addressed to secretaries of all ministries / departments of Government of India instructed for the mandatory utilization of telecom services offered by BSNL/MTNL. DoT recommended to use internet, broadband, landline and leased line service of BSNL/MTNL in all central & state government departments and public sector units.
BSNL Bharat Fiber (FTTH) is getting Customer Acceptance
As we reported, BSNL crossed 1 million customer base in FTTH segment where the PSU was able to add more than 5 lakh new Bharat Fiber (FTTH) connections within a period of just 5 months. It means, BSNL is adding nearly 1 lakh new Bharat Fiber (FTTH) Broadband connections with the help of LCOs/MSOs/TIPs. BSNL fiber broadband connections are now available everywhere in the country. The increased demand for BSNL FTTH by customers is further intensified by the recent reduction in FTTH tariff plans.
BSNL’s New Bharat Fiber (FTTH) Plans
Now customers can get premium service quality and assured bandwidth from BSNL Bharat Fiber plans starting from Rs 449/- onwards. BSNL’s introductory FTTH plan Fiber Basic Rs 449/- offer 30 Mbps download speed and 3.3TB usage whereas the next higher plan Fiber Basic Plus Rs 599 offer 60 Mbps download speed with 3.3TB usage. Customers can enjoy 100Mbps download speed in BSNL FTTH plans Rs 777 (500GB CUL Plan) & Rs 799 (Fiber Value Plan). BSNL offer 200Mbps speed in Fiber Premium Rs 999 plan and 300Mbps speed in Fiber Ultra Rs 1499 plan. BSNL customers may enjoy unlimited voice calls in all Bharat Fiber plans without any additional cost. In addition, BSNL customers may also enjoy Disney+Hotstar Premium subscription in selected plans.

BSNL already launched a dedicated portal – Book My Fiber – to capture online leads from customers who require BSNL Bharat Fiber connections. The facility to register for BSNL Bharat Fiber (FTTH) is also included in ‘My BSNL App’. Now customers may use either Book My Fiber Portal or My BSNL mobile app to register for BSNL Bharat Fiber (FTTH) connections all over India.

Government should support BSNL to launch 4G services at the earliest.
Yes. Without 4g it's not possible to compete with other operators.
It is the need of General public to have a competitive rates in 4G service also. So 4G to BSNL is an urgent requirement of the General public.
All fake news about new connections. One should visit a nearby bsnl office and the skeleton system of their office and worthless officers will be out.

Everyone knows what happening with BSNL and who is getting benfited….its stupidity stilll if your saying BSNL is loss making company….one thing we should understand.. corporates wont give anything free they only work for profit profit profit.
