BSNL has decided to waive off 100% security deposit charges for FTTH modem taken on rental scheme by customers all over the country.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced 100% discount in Security Desposit Charges for FTTH Modem (ONT) taken on rental scheme by customers all over India. As per the latest information, new Bharat Fiber (BSNL FTTH) customers who are opting FTTH modem on rental scheme may avail this newly launched offer. This offer is applicable across all the telecom circles including Andaman & Nicobar telecom circle.
BSNL normally charge Rs 500/- as FTTH Modem (ONT) security desposit from customers availed ONT rental scheme. This security desposit was applicable to BSNL FTTH connections provided via BSNL’s partners also. Now BSNL authorties has decided to charge ONT security deposit only to BSNL FTTH connections provided directly by BSNL. It means, BSNL won’t collect security deposit for ONT provided by BSNL’s FTTH partners.
An Official statement from BSNL regarding 100% waival of ONT security desposit for BSNL FTTH ONT provided by BSNL’s partners read as follows.
All other terms and conditions will remain same. Above instructions with respect to ONT security deposit charges will have immediate effect across all the telecom circles.
BSNL FTTH (Bharat Fiber) Modem Rental Charges
New customers may either purchase the modem from BSNL’s partner or avail it in monthly rental scheme. BSNL allows two rental plans for FTTH Modem (ONT) for connections provided direcly by BSNL or via BSNL’s FTTH partner network.
- For non WiFi ONT, BSNL will charge Rs 90/- per month as ONT rental and
- For WiFi ONT, Rs 150/- per month will be charged as ONT rental.
How can I avail Zero Charges for BSNL FTTH ONT (Modem)?
BSNL Bharat Fiber (FTTH) customers can avail absolutely Zero ONT Charges under the following schemes.
- Bharatnet Udyami Scheme (Available in Rural Areas Only)
- New ONT Budling Scheme (Avaialbe in both Rural and Urban Areas)
Bharatnet Udyami Scheme (BNU Scheme)
Under Bharatnet Udyami Scheme, BSNL provides FTTH Broadband Internet connections at Zero Initial Charges. This central governement scheme is backed by Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) with an aim to remove the digital divide between rural and urban areas of India. BSNL FTTH connections are being provided by Village Level Enterpreneurs named as Bharatnet Udyamis. The PSU provide support and assistance to these Village Level Enterpreneurs in building last mile optical fiber connectivity to customer premises. This scheme is available in Rural areas only! New ONT Bundling Scheme by BSNL
As we reported earlier, BSNL launched ONT Bundling Offer where a customer can avail FREE FTTH ONT from BSNL. Unlike Bharatnet Udyami Scheme, ONT Bundling Offer is available in both rural as well as urban areas. Customers opting BSNL FTTH plans from Rs 499/- may avail FREE FTTH ONT under this scheme.
