Broadband Statistics
broadband subscribers increased
from 683.77 million at the end of
May-2020 to 698.23 million at the
end of June-2020 with a monthly
growth rate of 2.11%. Top five service providers
constituted 98.93% market share
of the total broadband subscribers
at the end of June-2020. These
service providers were: –
- Reliance Jio
Infocomm Ltd (398.31 million) - Bharti Airtel (151.30 million)
- Vodafone Idea (116.45 million)
- BSNL (23 million)
- Atria
Convergence (1.68 million)
- BSNL (7.90 million)
- Bharti Airtel (2.47 million)
- Atria Convergence Technologies (1.68 million)
- Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (1.06 million)
- Hathway Cable & Datacom (0.99 million)
- Reliance Jio Infocom Ltd (397.25 million)
- Bharti Airtel (148.84 million)
- Vodafone Idea (116.44 million)
- BSNL (15.10 million)
- MTNL (0.16 million)
As on 30th June, 2020, the private access service providers held 89.33%
market share of the wireless subscribers whereas BSNL and MTNL, the two
PSU access service providers, had a market share of only 10.67%.
Growth in Wireless Subscribers
Most of the service areas showed
decline except Kerala, Himachal
Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal,
Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat
U.P.(E), Maharashtra and North
East in their wireless subscribers
during the month of June-2020.
Kerala service area showed
maximum growth of 0.80% in its
wireless subscriber base during
the month.
In June 2020, all wireless operators shown a decline in growth rate except Reliance Jio. Reliance Jio was able to achieve 1.5% monthly growth rate by adding 44.99 lakh new mobile customers in June 2020.
Vodafone Idea witnessed a massive decline in net addition in customer base in the month of June 2020 where they lost 48.2 lakh existing customers all over India which is followed by BSNL, Bharati Airtel, MTNL and Reliance Communications. The number of telephone subscribers in
India decreased from 1,163.67 million
at the end of May-20 to 1,160.52
million at the end of June-20, thereby
showing a monthly decline rate of
0.27%. The overall Tele-density in India
decreased from 86.15 at the end of
May-20 to 85.85 at the end of June20.
