India’s largest landline service provider, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to disconnect Free Landline connections provided against FLPP (Fixed Line Pre-Paid) General and FLPP (Fixed Line Pre-Paid) PCO accounts on PAN India basis with immediate effect.
It is because, the PSU already closed all Fixed line Prepaid IN services with effect from 1st July 2015 across all telecom circles. Now, BSNL authorities has given instructions to its field units to disconnect all free landlines and to recover the landline instruments provided to them besides activating their FLPP accounts.
An official instruction regarding the withdrawal of Free Landline connections to FLPP General and FLPP PCO customers read as follows:-
FLPP is a Pre-Paid fixed line IN service with two categories viz, FLPP General and FLPP PCO. A Free landline connection with incoming facility is provided to customers against each FLPP General / FLPP PCO account. Consequence of closure of prepaid IN services, field units have to disconnect all such FLPP Landline connections and recover instruments besides deactivating FLPP accounts.
Earlier BSNL was offering special Virtual Calling Card services branded as Universal India Telephone Card (Universal ITC or UITC). With Universal ITC, customers were able to make calls to foreign countries at per second billing from any Landline or Mobile which is not having ISD facility. BSNL discontinued this service also with effect from 01-07-2015 onwards on PAN India basis.
